As a young artist, Mira had the good fortune to study with a gifted artist who guided her enthusiastically through the immense collection of old masters at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Under his tutelage, she acquired a passion for paintings from the 17th century. She's returned to those roots through her tulip series, and is grateful to participate in this long-standing tradition.  For Mira, the artist's task is to illuminate some small or large truth that may otherwise be overlooked as we race through our lives at speeds unmatched in previous centuries. By employing scale, she asks you to stop a moment and experience something so exquiste that in the 17th century a Dutchman paid a year's income to enjoy a two-week bloom.
